The City of Safford would like to express our sincere admiration towards the youth that attended the 2021 League Youth Program of the League of Arizona Cities and Town's Annual Conference. The five youth that attended the conference attended seminars on Mental Health Wellness, Public Speaking and Networking. They also participated in a parade of flags, where they carried the City of Safford's flag among other municipalities flags.
The Students Taking A Road to Success (STARS) group consists of teens in Graham County and five of these teens attended this years conference. The name of the five teens that attended are Xander Webb, Kali Glugas, Olivia Madrid, Elysia Barringer, and Aaron Cutler. These five individuals were accompanied by the adult representative of the STARS group, Toni Palomino, who also is a member of the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee for the City of Safford.
Each of the student that attended the conference gave a brief synopsis of their experience and some of the ideas that they presented. The topic that the STARS chose to present was the City of Safford's Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee and seeking public input in the process of developing these amenities.
The City of Safford would like to thank these individuals, again, for exercising their civic responsibility in representing our city at the state level.
