Notice is hereby given that the following zoning matter will be heard before the City of Safford Planning and Zoning Commission at a public hearing to be held at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, March 15, 2021 in Safford’s Library Program Room, Safford Library Complex, 808 S. 7th Ave., Safford, Arizona. The Planning and Zoning Commission will make a recommendation to the Safford City Council. The recommendation will be presented to the Safford City Council at a public hearing to be a held on Monday April 12, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. in Safford’s Library Program Room, Safford Library Complex, 808 S. 7th Ave., Safford, Arizona.
Case Z-03-21 Zoning Request from A-R to C-2. An application to rezone Graham County Parcel #’s 101-14-003D and 101-14-003E, which is located directly to the south of 1615 South First Avenue, from A-R Agricultural Residential District to C-2 Highway Commercial District. For the C-2 Highway Commercial District, Section 17.52.010 of the Safford Municipal Codes states:
The purpose of this zoning district is to provide for commercial uses and services generally maintained in central business district fringe area where the density of traffic and building area is not conductive to desirable residential living. This district encourages heavier commercial establishments intended for highway locations
