City of Safford core benefits are ran by the Rural Arizona Group Health Trust (RAGHT). The plan offers Medical (EPO and HDHP with HSA), Dental, Vision, Employer Paid & Voluntary Life Insurance, and Voluntary Supplemental benefits. The monthly premiums are listed below effective July 1, 2023. The employer paid subsidy is at a 90/10 split, meaning the City of Safford pays for 90% of the cost of the premiums for employees. Coverage is effective at the beginning of the month following one month of full-time employment. Unbundled benefits are available.

Sick, Vacation & Holiday

  • Regular employee's sick leave accrues at the rate of eight (8) hours per calendar month - maximum accrual seven-hundred and twenty (720) hours.  Part-time, Seasonal and Temp employees are also eligible for sick leave receiving one (1) hour of sick leave for every thirty (30) hours worked - maximum of forty (40) hours.
  • Regular employees vacation leave accrues at the rate of eight (8) hours per calendar month for the first five (5) years of service. After five (5) years of service accrual increases to ten (10) hours. After ten (10) years of service accrual increases to twelve (12) hours.

  • 12.29 % of Gross Earnings for Retirement & Long-Term Disability
  • Contributions are exempt from federal income tax
