Water Restrictions in Place February 26, 2013

Proclamation No. 13-001
The following mandatory restrictions for all City of Safford water customers are effective Tuesday, February 26, 2013:

All outside watering shall follow the following two day a week schedule: if your address ends with an even number, water on Wednesday and Saturday. Odd numbers will water on Tuesday and Friday.
All outside watering shall be limited to two (2) hours on designated watering days.
Outside watering shall be prohibited between 10:00 am and 6:00 pm. Commercial nurseries excluded.
Prohibit the hosing off of pavement, sidewalks, walkways, parking lots, tennis courts, buildings or any structures.
It is prohibited to allow water to run into city streets or alleys.
Reclaimed water use only for dust control.
All restaurants shall refrain from serving water unless requested by patrons.
No washing of vehicles except once a week and on designated watering days only. This shall be accomplished by using a bucket with an automatic shut off nozzle on the hose. Commercial car washes excluded.
The installation of pools and Jacuzzis and planting of new sod and any ornamental shrubbery shall be deferred until after this water emergency no longer exists.
The operation of ornamental fountains or ponds is prohibited except where necessary to support aquatic life.

The following penalties are imposed for violation of this Proclamation under the auspices of the Safford Municipal Code 1.12.010:

Any persons violating these mandatory restrictions shall be issued a civil citation resulting in a $100 fine for the first offense, a $250 find for the second and subsequent offense.
